The above picture was taken from my Blackberry smartphone at the K-State International Fashion Show, erroneously so named since it was not merely fashion shown. Between every few acts there were comedians or dances. It would be more aptly named “International Culture Exhibition with a Heavy Emphasis on Fashion”. Ok, maybe not.

The dances were cool.

I really like India, so I took a picture of these two women performing, juxtaposing two distinct types of Indian dance. A few hours earlier, one of the performers, Jui, taught my Anthropology of the Arts class about the symbolism, near sign language, of Indian dance. She talked about how it can tell a story and express a feeling. The audience at the fashion show was told that this particular dance told a story about Lord Krishna.
